ROCK & REBUILD THE HARBOR
GRANT DISTRIBUTION
All proceeds raised from Rock & Rebuild the Harbor have now been fully distributed through a formal grant process to working waterfront businesses that directly support fishing, play a critical role in their communities, and were demonstrably impacted by the January 2024 storms.
Grant funds were awarded to support essential recovery needs, including infrastructure repair, equipment replacement, and operational support for businesses facing uninsured or underinsured losses.
ABOUT THE STORM DAMAGE
In January 2024, two monstrous and record-breaking winter storms hit Maine. The damage to the Pemaquid Peninsula was particularly extensive, as the storm surge pummeled the working waterfront areas that are mainstays of the local economy. Mainers are resourceful and cleared up much of the storm damage within days of the impact. While the debris has been removed, reality has set in. The rebuilding has been and will continue to be an extensive and expensive process.
